On 12th July 2024, the NSS Unit of Vedanta College celebrated World Paper Bag Day, a global event aimed at raising awareness about the harmful impact of plastic on the environment and promoting paper bag usage as an eco-friendly alternative. Volunteers began preparing paper bags using newspapers from their households, with even parents contributing to the task. On 12th July, volunteers and NSS Program Officer Mr. Mukesh Amrutkar distributed the bags to local vendors, stalls, and medicals in Vitthalwadi. The volunteers were divided into two teams, covering both east and west of Vitthalwadi. They distributed the bags to shopkeepers, medicals, street stalls, and passengers waiting at the station. Station master Mr. Anil actively supported the initiative and appreciated the volunteers' efforts. Almost 300 paper bags were made and distributed by the NSS Unit, demonstrating the importance of environmental preservation..
