on 12th july 2024, the nss unit of vedanta college celebrated world paper bag day, a global event aimed at raising awareness about the harmful impact of plastic on the environment and promoting paper bag usage as an eco-friendly alternative. volunteers began preparing paper bags using newspapers from their households, with even parents contributing to the task. on 12th july, volunteers and nss program officer mr. mukesh amrutkar distributed the bags to local vendors, stalls, and medicals in vitthalwadi. the volunteers were divided into two teams, covering both east and west of vitthalwadi. they distributed the bags to shopkeepers, medicals, street stalls, and passengers waiting at the station. station master mr. anil actively supported the initiative and appreciated the volunteers' efforts. almost 300 paper bags were made and distributed by the nss unit, demonstrating the importance of environmental preservation.

this multilingual competition invited students to write an essay of 250– 500 words on key areas of
environmental concern to achieve sustainability. the competition aimed at the expression of
creativity and passion of youth for finding innovative solutions to understand the impact of rising
pollution.
there were total 5 entries and each essay was so thoughtful and informative.
a specified date and time was mentioned for the competition and the participants were told to take
geo-tagged photos at different times of preparing the items including raw material used and finished
item.
they used different types of waste material like used plastic bottles, plastic wrappers of food items,
old newspaper, ice-cream sticks, coconut shells, plastic spoons, plastic bowls to make items that can
actually be used and will prevent wastage and environment degradation.

old age homes are some institutions run by a trust or some people. the old people who are alone or
don’t have someone to take care can live in these places.diwali is all about celebrating the bond we have
with our family.as old age home people are part of us. therefore, dedicate this diwali to the seniors by
playing fun and interesting games, taking selfies with them or burning crackers together,and sharing
sweets with them on this diwali. you have absolutely no idea how special they will feel!

immersed in a water body.the visarjan areas are mainly blocked
in these days.the wet waste and dry waste during the visarjans
should be maintained to avoid the pollution and harmness to
